Davena Witcher, BSRN, RCP began service on AMOR’s Board of Directors in 2008, playing a key role in development of the Maternal and Child services that are currently provided at Afshar Hospital. In 2011, she accepted a full time position as AMOR’s Development Director, where she seeks funding for AMOR’s future growth into other countries, while also leading the expansion of Maternal and Child services at Afshar Hospital and Neonatal Care. In 2013 she was appointed Executive Director.
” My years of experience as a nurse bring a dynamic perspective to the role of Development Director. The opportunity to inspire others with the stories of AMOR’s accomplishments in Afghanistan and our vision of bringing sustainable, quality health care to other impoverished regions of the world is very gratifying.
The education of women, home health workers, midwives and physicians on ways to improve general health and care at each level is priority for AMOR and emphasizes the goal of our mission statement: ‘Improving the health status of the communities we serve.’ While focused on Maternal and Child health services, AMOR has also greatly improved the quality of health care to everyone that it serves by providing Emergent, In-patient, and Surgical services not previously available in the region.
I am challenged and inspired by the road ahead as we move forward, expanding health education and quality health care services in Afghanistan and around the world.” -Davena Witcher
